Director / Founder / Coach

Carl Neuburger is the Founder of the Portland Volleyball Club. He has coached the club "at all its age levels" for over 20 years. Presently, Carl is the Head Coach at West Linn High School and coached his team to a 6A State Championship this year and a 4A State Championship in 2003. For 10 years Carl was the Head Women's NCAA Division I Volleyball Coach at the University of Portland. PVC is considered one of the premier junior development programs in the nation. Coach Neuburger was honored by the 1989 Volleyball Festival with it's Award for Distinguished Service to Junior Volleyball.

The Club's record speaks for itself and it is hoped that this coming year will be a continuation of the success and excellence. Because of the continued interest in the Club locally and the need to get more young people involved in the sport, this year's program will feature teams in seven age groups -- 12 & Under, 13 & Under, 14 & Under, 15 & Under, 16 & Under, 17 & Under and 18 & Under. Selection to the Club is by tryout. There is a significant carry-over of returning Club members. Each Team within the Club typically carries 10-12 players. This will allow for increased practice intensity and more effective coaching which should further enhance each player's athletic development. The Club will not sacrifice quality for quantity in terms of player numbers -- there will only be the number of teams that the Club can guarantee the best quality coaching. Coaches at all levels have college/playing and/or highly successful high school/club coaching experience.
