2016/17 Season, One To Be Proud Of

14U PVC Red National Team Breaks All The Records!

The PVC coaching staff thought the 2016-17 season might be a terrific starting point for our newly branded “National” teams. However, no one expected the 66-7, multiple championships garnered by our 14U Red National Team coached by 23 year veteran Steven Bodo.

The Red National Team’s undefeated (30-0) Gold Power League Season was followed by a perfect Gold CEVA Regional Championship. In the National Bid Tournament Championship, the Red Team was 7-0 in matches (14-0 in sets) and finished in 11th place, a 7-3 match record among the top teams in the country in the National Division, at the National JO Tournament.

Our 14U Red National Team, also, successfully defended their Willamette Classic 16U Championship of last year by winning this year’s “16U” Championship again. Red closed out May with a strong 5th in the top “16U Division” at the Bayview Classic in Northern California.

The 2016/17 USA Volleyball Season for all 4 “National Teams” (18 Black, 16 Blue, 14 Red, and 12 Pink) demonstrate – again – that over 190 years of veteran coaching experience and 42 plus years of club volleyball administration knowledge does equal well trained, highly skilled players with top notch results. Special congratulations this year to our Portland 18U Black National Team, coached by Club Director and veteran coach of 48 years Carl Neuburger, finishing the regular season with a top four Regional Gold Championship finish, first place finishes at the Far Western National Qualifier in Reno, and Bayview Classic in Northern California. 16U Blue National, coached by Christy May, a long time 16U and 18U veteran specialist, also finished strong with a third place Regional Gold Division Tournament finish, and 16U Championship win at the Bay View Classic in Northern California in May. Amy Jones receives a “high five” for leading our 18U Gold Team to one of its best seasons ever, including top eleven at Gold/Silver Regionals, third in its division at Colorado Crossroads, and a finals finish at Bayview.

PVC takes great pride in the improvement and development of every team and every player in the program. We are proud of our efforts this year, but are always looking to improve our club in everything we do. Exciting ideas are in the works to provide an even better experience next year.
