Coach Bio – Carl Neuburger


Carl Neuburger, Director PVCCarl is the Founder/Director of Portland Volleyball Club. During his 40 years with PVC, he has coached teams at all age levels. In 2009, his 18U Black Team qualified and attended the USA Volleyball Girls’ Junior Olympic Championships in Miami, Florida. Carl was the Head Volleyball Coach at West Linn HS for 18 years and led the Lions to six OSAA 6A and 4A Tournament finishes, including a State Championship in 2003 and 2007, a 2nd place finish in 2008, and 3rd place in 2017. In 2014 and 2017 he was named the Three Rivers League Coach of the Year. He was voted the 6A Oregon Coach of the Year in 2008 by his peers. Prior to West Linn HS, he was the Head Coach at Oregon City HS where his team achieved a Conference Championship and 3rd place finish at State. He has been the “Three Rivers League Coach of the Year” on 5 different occasions, was voted “Coach of the Year” for the 2007-2008 and 2003-2004 seasons by the Oregon Athletic Coaches Association, and has been the PVC “Coach of the Year” numerous times. Carl was also the Head Coach at University of Portland for 10 years and the Asst. Coach at Portland State University for 4 years. He is a past Junior Director and President of CEVA and is a recipient of the Volleyball Festival’s “Distinguished Service to Junior Volleyball” award.
